The Family
Deeply rooted in Leibnitz yet blessed with a global perspective, our culinary ambassadors – known to many as the Nauschnegg brothers – have earned their reputation far beyond town limits. Locals and gourmets from afar appreciate their sense of tradition paired with international culinary influences. The secret recipe? A strong family bond, a dash of humor, and a deep passion for genuine hospitality. At Alte Post, it’s not just about serving food – it’s about creating an experience with heart and soul. And that’s a recipe that truly works.
Our Story
Alte Post has always stood for heartfelt hospitality, Styrian warmth, and culinary excellence – a place where past and future meet at the same table and raise a glass together. Family-owned for generations, this historic estate has been lovingly and continuously refined. Julie and Hans Nauschnegg (+ 2015) invested in extensive renovations and additions, transforming the traditional inn into a modern 4-star hotel – all without losing its charm and down-to-earth spirit. Alte Post is a piece of local history and a household name far beyond the town’s borders. For the people of Leibnitz, it was always simply “der Nauschnegg” – a name deeply rooted in the region, synonymous with culinary excellence in the heart of South Styria.
Bernd
As restaurant and hotel manager, Bernd Nauschnegg makes sure everything runs smoothly – and in style. His training at the renowned hotel management school in Bad Gleichenberg, along with experience at top establishments from St. Moritz to Lech am Arlberg, gave him the expertise he brings to the table today. With an eye for outstanding service and a heart for Styrian hospitality, he brings a special glow to Alte Post – and to everyone who walks through its doors.
Manuela
Where desserts turn into little works of art, chances are Manuela is behind them. Creative, precise, and passionate about pâtisserie – even figure-conscious guests can’t resist her sweet creations. She honed her craft at Post in Lech am Arlberg, the Trofana Royal in Ischgl, and Caramé in Velden under the guidance of renowned chef Hubert Wallner.
Stefan
Our head chef wears his Gault Millau toque for good reason. His culinary journey took him all the way to the Residenz Aschau in Chiemgau, where he trained under Michelin-starred chef Heinz Winkler – who often praised Stefan’s remarkable talent in the kitchen. Now back home, he gives traditional recipes a modern twist – delivering bold flavours and unforgettable moments on every plate.
Sandra
Sandra gained her expertise right here in-house and ensures our guests feel truly cared for – always with a warm and welcoming touch. As a certified Sommelière Österreich, she’s happy to assist with wine selections, while her eye for detail shines through in the décor and floral design that give our spaces their unique charm.
